It dissolves in liquid ammonia, hot water, ethanol, acetone hydrate, and dimethyl formamide, but is insoluble in ether, benzene, and chloroform. Its relative density (d254) is 1.40. The melting point is 209.5°C. It is stable during drying and does not burn. It is low in toxicity, with a median lethal dose (oral, in mice) >4000 mg/kg. The maximum allowable concentration in air is 5 mg/m³.
